The Cheeca Lodge Hotel and Spa – Rapid Construction & Hurricane-Resistant Design

Project Overview

The Cheeca Lodge  needed a new 64-unit facility to replace the existing building that was destroyed by fire during the previous New Year’s Eve in time to reopen for the Christmas season.

The 64,280 sq. ft., four-story hotel and a 6,160 sq. ft. single-story restaurant structure was constructed in less than six months. An integrated building systems approach was utilized which consisted of concrete modular buildings, and precast floor and roof systems. This helped to drastically reduce the constriction schedule by embracing the benefits of concurrent construction. The finished building is structurally designed to provide hurricane resistance against Category 5 hurricane winds and is LEED Silver Certified.
