The Academy For Advanced Learning

Unified Building Group recently completed a new K-8 Charter School in the Northwest region of the Aurora Public Schools District. This two-phased project for the Academy for Advanced Learning converted an old Hobby Lobby into an educational facility. The scope consisted of the interior buildout of 40,000 square feet to accommodate Grades K-6 with new classrooms, lobby, multipurpose room/cafeteria, restrooms, offices, an administration area and a nurses station. Phase II of the project included adding 10,000 square feet to expand the school to offer Grades 7-8.

I am the Founder and CEO of Third Future Schools, a new charter network in Colorado. We contracted with John Albert and Unified Building Group to build our first school. The project required turning a former Hobby Lobby (50,000 square feet) into a 500-student, elementary school in five months. Few thought it was possible and no one thought it could be done on time and at budget. Through excellent work, incredible project management, and a real sense of urgency, Unified Building Group got the job done and our students started the school year in a great building.

UBG was in constant communications with me, the architect, and the owner’s representative, ensuring that our interests were being met and any concerns addressed. In such a competitive market, I believe John’s leadership and his team’s ability to attract highly-skilled workers made all the difference. We hope to continue the partnership with UBG as we expand our present school and build other ones in the near future.
