Your way to impact

Lead Estimator is responsible for accurately analyzing blueprints, specifications and other project documents to calculate detailed and reliable cost estimates and budgets. Provide overall direction and support for all estimating activities related to the management of commercial and residential construction projects (tenant improvement and design/build) from pre-bid pricing/cost estimating phase to post-construction phase, including site visits, subcontractor and supplier outreach. This position demands strong analytical skills, construction knowledge, an aptitude for collaboration and a passion for developing winning bids.

Your day-to-day

  • Work closely with other members of the UBG team and vendors to ensure client satisfaction
  • Deconstruct and estimate all types of commercial building projects (New construction, tenant improvement, telecommunications, education, etc.)
  • Build meaningful estimates from concept and schematic drawing
  • Develop innovative ways for accurate pricing in estimates
  • Partner with executives and clients to review and evaluate plans, specifications, & cost estimates
  • Manage workflows and opportunities using construction management software
  • Costload & manage all unit costs and build assemblings within ProEst.
  • Work with the CEO and CFO to review project budget to actuals
  • Complete project on-screen quantity take-offs and develop bill of materials.
  • Create and manage the Invitations to Bid (ITB) process through ProCore.
  • Communicate with trade partners/subcontractors and team members regarding new and current projects.
  • Maintain appropriate industry contacts to insure best and final information on market pricing and trends
  • Prepare estimates and purchase orders in detail for all products and services.
  • Ensure timely completion of estimates.
  • Understand scope of work to bid.
  • Manage bid pricing from all vendors.
  • Conduct site walk thru and progress visits.
  • Prepare cost analysis and job costing estimates.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors including the ability to negotiate and influence effectively while ensuring UBG’s best interests.
  • Participate in project meetings, review schedules and prepare reports.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field or equivalent experience
  • Five(5) plus years cost estimating experience in the construction industry and/or sub trades. Background in bidding projects is preferred.
  • Three(3) plus years of applied experience in construction management and estimating software such as PROCORE and ProEst
  • Capable of developing estimates throughout the project life cycle from rough order of magnitude (ROM) pricing, schematic design, (SDs) design development (DDs), final construction document (CDs) to facilities maintenance and management.
  • Familiarity with BlueBeam, AutoCad, or other industry tools
  • Analytical, detailed mindset: Excellent mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to process large amounts of data and information

Working conditions

Hybrid in the Broomfield, CO office and work from home. Travel is expected for this position. This is a full-time position, reporting to the CEO and COO.

Physical requirements

Largely a sedentary role, bending or standing as necessary. Must occasionally lift and carry objects up to 10 pounds. Use of hands to operate a computer keyboard and office equipment.
